Our mission is to create breakthrough membranes for separation processes, replacing traditional methods with efficient, sustainable, and eco-friendly solutions for a better future
Founded in 2020 by Professor Jeff McCutcheon, a pioneer in the field, MembraneX is at the forefront of revolutionizing gas and liquid separation processes through cutting-edge membrane technology.
Our Management Team
For nearly 20 years, Jeff has pioneered work in membrane-based separations, notably in the areas of osmotic processes and membrane formation. He has raised over $12M to support research in the areas of forward osmosis, membrane distillation, nanofiltration, reverse osmosis, pervaporation, vapor permeation, organic solvent nanofiltration and additive manufacturing for membranes. He has published over 100 refereed publications and has several patents on membrane technology.
Jeff earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Dayton, and Doctorate in Chemical Engineering from Yale University.
Ed worked in the aerospace industry more than a decade before joining Connecticut Center for Applied Separations Technologies (CCAST) to help launch the center with a focus on separation technologies. Ed has been responsible for the preparation of the preliminary designs and requirements for the MembraneX printers, as well as seeing through the buildout from conception to construction and completion. Ed also oversees the design and construction of systems for high power and high-pressure liquid and gas separation research/activities.
Ed earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of Connecticut.
Imman has more than 20 years of global water treatment experience across several industries including Engineering, Manufacturing and Commissioning. He combines deep technical and commercial skills with a passion for the water treatment business. His unwavering focus on safety, environmental and social performance is the foundation on which he has overseen some of the most technically complex projects in the industry. Those assignments took him across the globe, from the U.S. to Europe to Latin America.
Imman earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree from Madurai Kamaraj University in Instrumentation and Controls Engineering, and a Master of Business Administration from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
